Stuck in a style rut? We can help!
Most of us have spent the last 12 months in PJs, so when it comes to style, it’s no surprise that some feel a little, um, confused and possibly nervous. But don’t worry, we’ve put together a handy guide with a few ideas to help you rediscover your style, feel chic and shine like you were meant to. Fashion is a powerful tool, and we believe that the right outfit can help empower you, make you feel more confident and slay the day!
Here are some ways you can break out of your style rut, or even switch things up a bit :
1. Find Inspiration to style
Whether you like browsing through Pinterest, following (ahem, stalking) your favourite bloggers on Instagram, spending time on YouTube or going old school and flipping through magazines – you can find inspiration almost anywhere you look. This can be an important step in figuring out what you love, what you find interesting, what you’d like to experiment with and also what you absolutely DON’T like (this is as crucial).
2.Tidy Up
Once you’ve kind of figured out what kind of styles you’re leaning towards, go ahead and look at what’s in your wardrobe. We’re not asking you to go all Marie Kondo, but look at everything you have and see how you feel about each piece.
Make 4 piles – one with things you adore, that you know look amazing on you and make you feel your best – the second pile is that of all the closet staples – those essential tees, tank tops, jeans, shirts etc. that go with everything – the third pile is of things you like, but don’t end up wearing too often – and the fourth is all the things you’d like to get rid of, either donate or throw away, depending on the state they’re in.
Try wearing something new from the third pile at least once a week – this will help you shake things up a bit and also make you realise if you really do like that piece of clothing or not really.
3. Start with Staples
This is a great exercise (and so much fun!). Take something classic like a beautiful white shirt, plain black tee or a white crop top and style it in 5-6 different ways.
Try it with different trousers, jeans, shorts or a skirt. Wear the shirt as a cover up, or tie a knot to create an edgy crop top. Pair the tee with high waist shorts and sneakers or a gorgeous maxi skirt and heels. Experiment with accessories – go all out! We guarantee you’ll find at least 3 outfit ideas that you’ll totally dig.
You can go for out beautiful white buttondown shirt or essential day tee(white)or essential night tee(black)
4. What’s Trending
Look at the latest trends and figure out what appeals to you. Is there a print or a silhouette you’d like to try? Go for it. Invest in a piece that’s on trend and feels like YOU. After all, what are clothes for if not to bring you joy?
5. Shake It Up
Been wearing your hair up in bun as far back as you can remember? Try switching it up – give yourself a blow dry or some bouncy beach waves. If you always go for nude nailpaint (or no nailpaint), try a pop of colour like fuchsia or turquoise. Or if you’re a sneakers girl, put on a pair of strappy sandals… you get the idea.
Trying something different can help you break the monotony and get inspired.
6. Take it Easy
If all the steps above seem like a big task right now, you can start small. Throw on a dress or a jumpsuit. A maxi dress is always wonderful – keeping you comfortable while staying effortlessly chic. But you know your body and your style the best so find a style that’s flattering on you and wear it. Doing this will boost your confidence level and help you get into a routine to elevate your everyday look.
